2026 Green Labs Specialist

In the spring semester of 2025, I worked as the Green Labs Outreach Intern to promote sustainable practices in research labs and foster a culture of environmentally conscious research on campus. I engaged with the UGA, Athens, and larger sustainable research communities to organize impactful events and highlight ways to reduce waste in research settings. In doing so, I established partnerships with other organizations, thereby broadening the reach and impact of the UGA Green Labs initiatives. I also created and managed the UGA Green Labs Instagram page, using it as a platform to educate and engage diverse audiences about eco-friendly lab practices. My role as the outreach intern concluded after I graduated with bachelor’s degrees in ecology and political science.

Since then, I have begun my graduate studies in political science and international affairs and have continued to work with the program as a Green Labs Specialist. I have been involved with a number of green labs initiatives including lab glass rehoming and ultra-low freezer energy saving. My current project focuses include creating systems level approaches to implement lab waste recycling programs across the UGA campus. All of my work is underpinned by the goal to create a more equitable and inclusive campus where sustainable practices are accessible to all, empowering individuals to make meaningful contributions to an environmentally friendly and just future.
